Happy Wednesday,
Guess what today is.
It’s National Bucket List Day.
With this in mind, I have 2 questions for you:
What’s on your bucket list?
What are you waiting on?
I’m guessing most of you don’t have a physical, handwritten bucket list.
I don’t.
But I know each and every one of you has a mental wish list of things you want to do or see or try or taste before you “kick the bucket.”
I’d encourage you to commit your personal wish list to paper (or a digital format) and - here’s the tough part - put deadlines and dates next to each item.
Otherwise, you’ll fall prey to the “someday” trap.
This isn’t a “wait until your retired” list either, though that’s what many people assume.
Maybe instead of “bucket list” think of it as your personal “regret prevention” list.
For more on preventing regret, read this essay I wrote back in March, 2022:
Financial planning is about aligning your financial resources to give you the best chance of living your best life.
And your best life includes your bucket list.
Or it should.
I can’t promise you can afford to do everything on your life’s wish list, but I can promise you that you’ll never check anything off your list unless you get started.
And what better day than today, National Bucket List Day?

And when you’re gonna do it! 😉
Links & Things
Correlation is not the same as causation.
Yet, we’re always looking for explanations of how and why things are happening, especially when it comes to our money.
With this in mind, I encourage you to check out:
It’s a website that shares some interesting - and often funny - correlations.
For instance:
It’s ridiculous to think that margarine consumption is related in any way to divorce in Maine.
Because it isn’t.
Yet I regularly see similar leaps of logic among both consumers and professionals as they try to make sense of what’s going on in the world around them.
Especially in the financial world.
Coincidences exist everywhere. But that’s all they are…
Have any suggestions?
I love hearing from readers, and I’m always looking for feedback.
Hit reply and say hello - I’d love to hear from you.
And as always, thanks for reading.
Until next Wednesday,
Russ
